Continuous improvement – the only constant (1/2)
“The essence of every organisation is to provide a product or service that offers value to the customer, and which ensures the interests of all other stakeholders• Investors
• Clients
• Employees
• Suppliers
• Environment., now and in the future.”
This is a wonderful idea that is true – in theory. But in the sometimes unmanageable day-to-day operations, companies have to deal with constantly and rapidly changing customer expectations• The right quality
• At the right moment
• At the right place
• For the righ cost
• In the right amount
• In other words: value
. The path to your goal is therefore not always a straight line, but a curvy road where you can’t see around the bend. And sometimes you will even find that the goal has shifted.
To properly anticipate these changing factors, you need a flexible organisation. But you also don’t want to start from scratch each time you need to implement a new change. This means you are looking for a way to transform your existing situation, with each change leading to an even better organisation. This is what we mean by continuous improvement.
Tried-and-tested improvement philosophies, such as TPM, Lean and Six Sigma, exist for this purpose. Blom Consultancy knows about these philosophies, has mastered them and uses them all. They all have their own strengths and specific areas of application, but along with various differences we observe many similarities.
